A Weekend of Unmentionables
(Ladies only)

We may not discuss those delicate white articles of clothing, but we do have to make them quite frequently. On the weekend of February 3 - 5, 2012 we will be working on taking measurements, creating a pattern and a set of unmentionables for girls and ladies. We will be using the instructions created by Elizabeth Stewart Clark for a set of split drawers, a chemise, and a petticoat.

You are invited to spend the weekend sleeping at Pioneer Farms and eating meals with us while we work on our delicates. Beasts of Burden

Barrington Living History Farm, at Washington-on-the-Brazos State Historical Park, Highway 105 between Navasota and Brenham on FM 1155.

Farmers of the 1850s relied on beasts of burden to cultivate a life from the soil. During the "Beasts of Burden" program, visitors will have the opportunity to see two teams of oxen working a field to prepare it for planting. The tools that will be utilized are a plow, cultivator and harrow of the time period.

Registration is now available for this workshop. Please see the links below. A registration fee of $16 and a photo of your impression are required. The contact for the workshop has changed to Mark Sanders; please direct all questions and registration information to him at Mark.Sanders@tpwd.state.tx.us. In addition the horse and mule portion of the workshop has been cancelled; however, we will still work with the oxen.
